A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
livens,-entis (part.B): bluish, lead-colored, bluish-gray, black and blue, livid; used by the Romans of lead (plumbum) [> L. liveo,-ere, 2. “for pliveo; Gk. pelios, pellos, dark-blue: to be of a bluish color, black and blue, livid (Lewis & Short)];

- pileus in statu etiam humido colore variat, pallens, rufescens, livens, subspadiceus, fuscescens (S&A), the pileus even in a moist state varies in color, being pale, somewhat red, livid [i.e.bluish-gray], nearly date-colored [i.e. a deer reddish brown], becoming blackish-brown.

- discus e pallido dilute purpurascens aut sublivens (S&A), the disc from pale to a diluted purplish or nearly blue-gray.
