A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Lingula,-ae (s.f.I) = ligula,-ae (s.f.I), q.v.
-linguis,-e (adj.B); ling-, lingui-; linguli-: in L. comp. -tongued (adj.); see -ligulatus,-a,-um (adj. A); see gloss-, glosso-; -glossus,-a,-um (adj.A);

- acutilinguis, with a sharp or acute tongue; angustilinguis, narrow-tongued; asperlinguis, with harsh or rough tongue; bovilinguis, with the tongue of a cow; brevilinguis, short-tongued; gibbilinguis, with a hunch-backed or gibbous tongue; latilinguis, broad-tongued; linearilinguis, with linear tongue; navilinguis, with a boat-shaped tongue; puberulilinguis, with a puberulous tongue; refractilinguis, with a sharply back-bent tongue; scabrilinguis, with a rough or scabrous tongue.

- atrilinguis, with black tongue; nigrolinguis, with black tongue.

- bilinguis, 2-linguis, with two tongues; trilinguis, 3-linguis, with three tongues.

- linguifer,-fera,-ferum (adj.A), bearing a tongue: Rubus linguiferus .

- linguifolius, with tongue-shaped leaves; linguifrons,-frondis, with a tongue-shaped frond.

- lingulilobus, with tongue-shaped lobes.
