A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

lesiniformis,-e: awl-shaped (Stearn 1983), i.e. slenderly long-acuminate, shaped like a needle or an awl [> ?]; syn. subulatus,-a,-um (adj.A), subuliformis,-e (adj.B); see awl-shaped.

Used of stipules and divisions of the calyx;

- sepala lanosa, trigona vel lesiniformia, sepals wooly, trigonous or lesiniform.

- dentes calycis subaequales, lineari-lesiniformes parum tubo longiores, teeth of calyx subequal, linear-lesiniform slightly longer than the tube.

- segmenta calycis libera, acuminata vel lesiniformia, corolla subaequilonga, divisions of the calyx free acuminate or lesiniform, about as long as the corolla.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
