A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
latrorsus,-a,-um (adj.A), latroversus,-a,-um (part.A): latrorse, turned or directed towards the side(s), along the sides; opening toward or on the side, turned sideways from the axis, situated sideways on a stalk or filament [elided form of lateroversus, laterovorsus > L. latus, gen.sg. lateris (s.n.III) + versus (adv.); cf. extrorsus,-a,-um (adj.A), introrsus,-a,-um (adj.A); see lateral;

- pollinis saccus supernus introrsus, infernus latrorsum vel latero-introrsus, upper pollen sac introrse, the lower latrorse or latero-introrse.

- pollinis sacci superni latrorsi, inferni latrorsi vel latero-extrorsi, upper pollen sacs latrorse, the lower latrorse or latero-extrorse.

- antherae oblongae, latrorsae, anthers oblong, latrorse.

NOTE: loculis rimi lorigitudinali saepius dehiscentibus, introrsis lateralibusve nunquam extrorsis (DeCandolle), with the locules [of the anther] more often dehiscent by a longitudinal fissure, facing inward or to the side, never facing outward.

NOTE: dehiscentia,-ae (s.f.I) latrorsa dehiscing longitudinally and laterally.
