A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Lar, gen.sg. laris (s.m.III), abl.sg. lare: “a class of gods association with the protection of certain places, as in hearth or home, roads, cross-roads, the state: a dwelling, home; domestic establishment” (after Glare).

Lares, gen.pl. Larium “tutelar deities, Lares; “most commonly the Lares (as lares familiares or domestici) the tutelar deities of a house, household gods, domestic Lares (whose images stood on the hearth in a little shrines, aedes, or in a small chapel, lararium; also in sing Lar, gen.sg. Laris (s.m.III): a hearth, dwelling, home (usu in sg.): deserere larem, to abandon one’s home; pelli lare, to be driven from a place” (Lewis & Short).

 

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
