NOTE: The nominative masculine singular in some epithets is not -er, as in classical usage, but -is, following the usage of Linnaeus: Lathyrus palustris, Lathyrus sylvestris, Ranunculus acris, Scirpus palustris, Sonchus palustris [classical Latin acer, campester, lacuster, paluster, silvester, terrester]; see Stearn 1983 p. 95..
