A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
itidem (adv.): likewise, in like manner, similarly, also; used as a correlative with talis,-e (adj.B), ‘such, of such a kind (as stated or implied in the context);’

- [moss] seminula itidem sunt fusca, rotunda, nonnunquam quibusdam pressione forsitan vicinorum, in ovatam figuram reductis (Hedw.) the seminula (i.e. spores] in like manner, are blackish-brown, rounded, sometimes perhaps by certain of its neighbors, with pressure, reduced into an ovate shape.

- [moss] theca olivacea, brunnea vel tandem purpurea. Peristomium itidem coloratum firmum (C. Muell.), the theca is olive-colored, brown or in the end purple. The peristome is likewise colored, firm.

- [moss] caulis elongatus ramis basi itidem elongatis simplicibus instructus (C. Muell.), the stem is elongate, provided with branches at the base similarly elongate, simple [i.e. unbranched].

- [synonymy] Tortula lacustris P. B. Prodr. p. 92. fide Bridel; itidem Bryum palustre Brid. Musc. Rec. 11. 111. p. 35 (C. Muell.), Tortula lacustris P. B. Prodr. p. 92, according to Bridel; likewise Bryum palustre Brid. Musc. Rec. II. III. page 35.

- folia præcedentis itidem pennata, minus profunde dentata neque imbricata (Necker), the leaves of the preceding [sc. species] are also pennate, less deeply dentate nor imbricate.

- [moss] PERISTOMA INTERNVM validius paulo, quam in praecedente specie, itidem e membranula marginem aperturae excedente (Hedw.), the inner peristome somewhat more robust than in the preceding species, similarly from a small membrane rising above the margin of the aperature [i.e. mouth].

- [moss] PEDUNCULUS recta inde adsurgens, validiusculus, modice longus subinde e viridi flavescit, et circa maturitatem thecae ad basin itidem rufescit (Hedw.), the peduncle [i.e. seta] straight and for that reason it rises upward, somewhat robust, moderately lonng, abruptly yellowing from green, and similarly grows reddish around its maturity at the base of the theca.
