iridescens,-entis (adj.B): iridescent; having iridescence: showing colors like those of the rainbow esp. in shifting patterns of hues and shades that vary with a change of light or point of view;” colored like the rainbow, the colors of the full spectrum, the pattern changing with the viewing angle; “a play of structural colors producing rainbow effects that is exhibited in various bodies as a result of interference in a thin film, or of diffraction of light reflected from a closely ribbed or corrugated surface …” (WIII);

[CYSTOSEIRA ericoides var. amentacea; alga] planta recens in mari iridescens (Agardh), plant lately [i.e. recently] in the sea iridescent.

caespites densissimi subsphaerici, diametro semipollicares, tactu lubrici, sub aqua ex violaceo et purpureo iridescentes, in exsiccata purpurascentes (Agardh), clumps very dense, almost spheric, one half-inch in diameter, lubricous [i.e. smooth and slippery, slimy] to the touch, under water from a violet color and a purple color iridescent, in exsiccate [i.e. dried specimens] purplish.

[alga] color recentis diversus, in Ch. mediterranea saepe iridescens (Agardh), the color of fresh [i.e. material] diverse, in Ch. mediterranea often iridescent.

[alga] Algae cylindraceae celluloso-tubulosae articulato-constrictae, ob stratum externum inconstructum gelatinoso-hyalinum saepe sublubricae, purpureo vel aureo nitentes quandoquidem subiridescentes (Agardh),algae cylindraceous, cellulose-tubulose, articulatedly constricted, pinnate, due to the outer layer not constructed, gelatinous-hyaline, often somewhat slippery, with a purple or golden color, shining inasmuchas it is slightly irridescent.

iridescenti-azureus,-a,-um (adj.A): iridescent-blue.
