A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

implicatus,-a,-um (part.A), also inplicatus,-a,-um (part.A), also implicitus (inpl-),-a,-um (part.A): “entangled, woven in” (Fernald 1950); implicated, entangled, woven in, entwined, interwoven, interlaced, intertwined; perplexed, confused, intricate [> L. implico (inpl-),-avi,-atum, 1. to infold, involve, entangle, entwine, envelop, embrace, encircle, clasp, grasp; to entangle; to attach closely, to unite, join];

- nematoda in pilis implicatis illaqueata, nematodes in entangled hairs trapped.

- adultior in caespites alias algas intricantes laxe implicata (Agardh), the more mature in sods entangling other algae, loosely interwoven.

- fila vix implicata, sed e basi caespitis subdivergenter exeuntia (Agardh), the filaments scarcely interwoven, but nearly divergently arising from the base of the clump.

- trichomatibus flexuoso-curvatis, sublaxe implicatus, pallide aerugineis (Wood), with the filaments flexuously curved, rather laxly implicate, pale greenish.

. - thylakoides peripherales sed interdum ad centrum cellulae implicatae, thylacoides peripheral but sometimes enfolded to the center of the cell.

- [alga] CONFERVA FLOCCOSA, filis simplicibus arachnoideis in stratum flavo-viride implicatis, articulis diametro subaequalibus (Agardh), with the threads simple [i.e. unbranched], cob-webby, interwoven into a yello-green layer, nearly equally the articuli [i.e. joints] in diameter.

- [alga] fila simplicia, capillaria, oculo nudo satis conspicua, aequalia (praeter spiras virides) hyalina, mucosa longissima laxe implicata, geniculis veluti ruptis obtusa, post copulationem minus mucosa, magisque crispata (Agardh), [vegetative filaments] simple [i.e. undivided or branched], hair-like, quite conspicuous to the naked eye, equal, hyaline (except for the green spirals), mucose, very long, loosely entwined, with the genicula obtuse as if ruptured, after copulation, less mucose and more crisped.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
