A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
implexus,-a,-um (part.A): implexed, entangled, interlaced; “entangled, interlaced” (Lindley); “entangled, interlaced” (Fernald 1950); interwoven, entwined [> L. implecto (inpl-), -xi, -xum, 3. to plait, braid, wind to twist into, to wind or twist among, to interweave, interlace, entwine (Lewis & Short)];

- fila vix implexa, sed e basi caespitis subdivergenter exeuntia (Agardh), the filaments scarcely interwoven, but nearly divergently arising from the base of the clump.

- adultior in caespites alias algas intricantes laxe implexa (Agardh), the more mature in sods entangling other algae, loosely interwoven.

- nematoda in pilis implexis illaqueata, nematodes in entangled hairs trapped.

- [lichen] thallus nigrescens vel obscure fuscus, satis fragilis, filiformis implexusque vel caespitose fruticulosus aut depresso-radiatus (Nyl.), the thallus blackish or obscurely blackish brown, quite fragile, filiform and entwined or fruticulose [i.e. having an upright or hanging thallus of radiate structure] [with a clumping habit] or depressed-radiate.

- [lichen] granula gonima moniliformi-seriata, elementa filamentosa implexa (Nyl.), gonidial granules moniliform-rowed, the filamentous elements entwined.

- [lichen] granula gonima moniliformi-seriata et elementa filamentosa implexa in substantia gelatinoidea thalli. (Nyl.), the gonimous [i.e. gonidial] granules moniliform-seriate and the interwoven filamentous elements in the gelatin substance of the thallus.

Dictyota implexa, an alga.
