A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
humosus,-a,-um (adj.A): humose, full of humus, of organic soil; see humus,-I (s.f.I);

- ad terram humosam degit (C. Mueller), it lives on humose soil.

- loca petrosa, humosa amat (C. Mueller), it loves rocky, humose [i.e. places full of organic matter] places.

- in terra humosa Americae totius septentrionalis vulgaris (C. Mueller), common on the organic soil of all North America.

- (moss) Leptotheca Gaudichaudi Schwaegr. In Nova Walesia meridionali prope portum Jacksonis ad terram arenoso-humosam legit(C. Mueller), in northern [New South Wales] near the port of Jackson on sandy-humose soil.

- In locis humidis praecipue humosis atquc lignis putrescentibus vel vetustis per totum fere orbem terrarum (C. Mueller), in moist places especially humose [i.e. organic] and also putrescent or old woods throughout almost all the circle of lands [i.e. the world].
