A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Horseshoe: ferrumequinum,-i (s.n.II), abl. sg. ferrumequino [> L. ferrum + equinus].
horseshoe-shaped (U-shaped): hippocrepicus,-a,-um (adj.A), hippocrepidus,-a,-um (adj.A), hippocrepiformis,-e (adj.B), q.v.; also lecotropus,-a,-um (adj.A), q.v., and lycotropus,-a,-um (adj.A), q.v. both used of ovules; shaped like the Greek letter ypsilon in the lower case (U-shaped) hyoideus,-a,-um (adj.A); see hyoid; see hippocrepiformis,-e (adj.B).

NOTE: ypsiloideus,-a,-um (adj.A); ypsiliformis,-e (adj.B) appears to represent a Y-shape in botany, that is, the upper case or capital figure of the Greek letter upsilon; see ypsiloid.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
