A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Himalaya,-ae (s.f.I): the Himalaya, a mountain system in southern Asia, usually, but less correctly, referred to as The Himalayas: Montes Himalayae [= gen.sg.], the mountains of Himalaya; syn. Emodus,-i (s.m.II), abl.sg. emodo; nom. pl. emodi, gen.pl. emodorum: Emodi Montes, the moundains of Emodus, the Himalaya; see Emodus,-i (s.m.II); see Tibet;

- regiones Montium Himalayae, regions of the Mountains of Himalaya.

- species 5, 3 Arcticae et Sibiricae, et 2 Himalayae incolae (B&H), species 5, 3 are Arctic and Siberic natives, and 2 are of Himalaya [the Himalayas].

- in sylvis piniferis humidis montium Himalayae altitud. 9000 ped. (C. Muell), in humid piniferous forests of the mountains of Himalaya at an altitude of 9000 feet.

- var. e. in Nepal et Himalaya Indiae orientalis (C. Muell.), var. e. in Nepal and the Himalaya of eastern India.

- in montibus Himalayae (C. Muell), in the mountains of Himalaya.

- in Himalayae monte Kamoun (C. Muell.), on Mount Kamoun of the Himalaya.

- species unica, in Himalaya orientali crescens (B&H), a single species, growing in eastern Himalaya.

- species 3, Sibiriae, Himalayae, et Tibetiae incolae (B&H), species 3, natives of Sibiria, Himalaya and Tibet.

- in aridis desertisque a Gracia et AEgypto usque ad Songariam et Himalayam sat frequentes (B&H), in arid and desert [sc. places] from Greece and Egypt to Songaria and Himalaya quite frequent.

himalaicus,-a,-um (adj.A), of or pertaining to the Himalaya;

- species 1, Himalaica (B&H), species one, Himalayan.

himalayanus,-a,-um (adj.A): of the Himalayan region or mountains;

- speciebus in Arcticis et Himalayanicis, with the species in Arctic and Himalayan [sc. regions].

- species 4, Europaea, Himalayana, Japonica, et boreali-Americana (B&H), species four, [one each] Europaean, Himalayan, Japanese and North American.
