A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
granatinus,-a,-um (adj.A): of a garnet color; the color of pomegranate juice; “pale scarlet, the color of the flower of Punica Granatum, L., the pomegranate” (Jackson); (in mycology) “granatine. Pale scarlet (between Peach Red and Scarlet (RI), between 1 D 11 and I J 12 of MP). (Probably from ‘pomegranate;’ the French ‘grenat’ means ‘garnet” (S&D); see garnet color;

- [species] colore sphaerularum una cum mucilagine pulcherrime granatino distincta (S&A), a species distinct by the color of the sphaerules together with the mucilage a most beautiful garnet-color.

- [pileus] induratus semipellucens corneus eleganter granatinus (S&A), the pileus hardened, somewhat pellucid, [with the texture of horn], elegantly garnet-colored.
