A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
glochideus,-a,-um (adj.A), glochidiatus,-a,-um (adj.A): pubescent with barbed bristles; “barbed at the tip” (Fernald 1950); see barbed;

- carpella 1-3- aristata v. nuda, rarius muricata nec glochidiata (B&H), carpells 1-3-aristate or naked, more rarely muricate [i.e. with short, hard points] not glochidiate [i.e. pubescent with barbed bristles].

- genus a Pavonia nonnisi coccis glochidiatis differt (B&H), the genus differs from Pavonia only by the glochidiate cocci.

- calycis tubus persistens, teres v. angulatus, nudus tuberculatus glochidiatus v. spinis patentibus armatus (B&H), the tube of the calyx persisting, round or angled, naked, tuberculate clochidiate or armed with spreading spines.

- fructus capitulum saepe spinis glochidiatis horridum (B&H), the head of the fruit often bristly with glochidiate spines.

- semina oblonga glochidato-pilosa (DeCandolle), the seeds oblong, glochidiate-pilose.
