gemmascens,-entis (part. B): beginning to bud, budding; bud-like, gemmiform, approaching a bud in appearance [> L. gemmasco,-ere: to begin to bud, budding]; see gemmiformis,-e (adj.B);

- [moss] flores mascull gemmascentia in longitudincm totius caulis positi (C. Mueller), the male flowers bud-like, arranged along the length of the whole stem.

- [moss] perichaetia in longitudine caulis numerosa distincte lateralia et pro plantae speciosae altitudine brevissima triquetra bulboso-gemmascentia (C.Mueller), the perichaetia on the length of the stem numerous, definitely lateral and for a splendid plant, very short in height, three-angled, bulbous to bud-like; see bud-like.
