fontanus,-a,-um (adj.A), fontinalis,-e (adj.B): growing in or by springs or a spring of water; “pertaining to springs or fountains; growing in fast-running water” (Stearn 1996) [> L. fons (s.m.III), gen. sg. fontis, a spring of water]; cf. fluvialis,-e (adj.B), growing by or in rivers;

- aqua fontana, spring-water, the water of springs.

- deinde mittuntur in vasculo, cui fontana aut pluvialis aqua miscetur (Palladius), finally it is sent into a vessel, with which spring water and rain-water is mixed.

Fissidens fontanus (B.-Pyl.) Steud., a moss, refering to its frequent submergence in springs or flowing water; Salvelinus fontinalis, the Brook Trout.

Fontinalis,-is (s.f.III) Hedw., abl. sg. Fontinale, in reference to the tendency of these moss species to grow in flowing water; Salvelinus fontinalis, the Brook Trout.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
