Fluxus,-us (s.m.IV), abl. sg. fluxu: flow, discharge, flux, a flowing, fluid; a current, especially of the sea; the tide; see ‘current;’ see refluxus,-us (s.m.IV); see tide;

- fluxus aeris, a current of air.

- fluxus resinae, a flowing of ‘resin.’

- flexuus atque refluxus maris, flow and ebb of the sea (Stearn 1983).

- [algae] Hab. ad rupes subemersas, vehementiori fluxu expósitas, it grows on nearly emersed rocks, exposed by a more strenuous current.

- [algae] Hab. inter corallinas aliasque algas ad rupes vehementiori fluxu expositas in limite maris (Agardh), it grows among the corallines and other algae on rocks exposed to the more vigorous current on the boundary [i.e. coast] of the sea.

- [algas] mare apertum amant Florideae, rupes tamen a luce et vehementissimo fluxu absconditas precipue inhabitants (Agardh), the Florideae love the open sea, although primarily inhabiting rocks hidden from the light and the most violent current.

- [algae] Hab. ad scopulos vehementiori fluxu expositos in limite maris (Agardh), it grows on searocks exposed to the more powerful current within the limit [i.e. boundary] of the sea.

- [Tremella marina caespitosa] super rupes, quas fluxus maris attingit, mihi observata haec species (Dill.), this species observed by me upon rocks which stretch as far as the flow [i.e. tide] of the sea.

- ad saxa, muros, terram, palos, paulo infra limitem superiorem fluxus in Oceano Atlantico; on rocks, walls, earth, pales, a little below the upper limit of the tide in the Atlantic Ocean (Stearn).
