fluvialis,-e (adj.B), fluviatilis,-e (adj.B), fluviaticus,-a,-um (adj.A): fluvial; pertaining to rivers; of or belonging to a river (fluvius,-ii (s.m.II), q.v.); “of, or belonging to the water” (Lindley); “growing in a river or running water” (Stearn 1996) [> L. “of or found in rivers; (of boats) suitable for use on rivers” (Glare)> fluvius,-ii (s.m.II) a river or other stream (of water)]; cf. fontanus,-a,-um (adj.A).

- equus,-i (s.m.II) fluviatilis, the hippopotamus (Glare).

- limus fluviatilis, abl.sg. limo fluviatili (adj.B), river silt.

- [Cyperus alternifolius] gramen fluviatile geniculatum, panicula foliacea, virginianum (Linn.) a river grass, geniculate, with a leafy panicle, growing in Virginia.

- [Scirpus lacustris] habitat in Europae aquis puris stagnantibus & fluviatilibus (Linn.), it grows in the pure [i.e. unpolluted], both standing and running waters of Europe.

- De herbis marinis aut fluviatilibus, quarum flores & fructus vulgo ignorantur (Tourn.), on marine or river herbs of which the flowers and fruits are unknown.

- [alga] fucus fluviatilis, aculeatus, undulatus (Tourn.), river algae [Fucus], prickly, undulate.

- [sponge] spongia ramosa, fluviatilis, a branched sponge of rivers. Equisetum fluviatile, the Water-horsetail; Conferva fluviatilis sericea, vulgaris & fluitans (Dill.), “River-weed,” silky, common and floating; Ranunculus fluviatilis (= R. aquatilis).
