A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
floridus,-a,-um (adj.A): abounding in flowers, profusely flowering; flowering [as opp. to fruiting, or sterile]; (of colors) bright (Stearn); cf. floribundus,-a,-um (adj.A);

- ramis floridis foliosis (DeCandolle), with the branches abounding in flowers and leaves.

- caulibus floridis erectis (DeCandolle), with the flowering stems erect.

- Magnolia denudata, ramis floridis aphyllis (DeCandolle), Magnolia denudata, with the flowering branches without leaves.

- stamina 15 basi monadelpha, 5 ante petala majora, cetera subabortiva vidi in specim. florido in hort. Mus. Par. (DeCandolle), stamens 15, monadelphous at the base, the 5 before the petals larger, the rest somewhat abortive I saw in a flowering specimen in the garden of the Paris Museum.

- planta ad nodos florida (Swartz), flowering at the nodes. Calycanthus floridus L., “flowering” (Fernald 1950); note that the flowers of this species “when crushed yielding strong fragrance suggesting strawberries” (Fernald 1950); Stellaria florida.
