A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
exannulatus,-a,-um (adj.A): lacking rings; without an annulus, as the mouth of a moss capsule;

- [moss] capsula erecta, microstoma, exannulata (Austin), with the capsule erect, with a small mouth, lacking an annulus.

- [moss] theca turbinata ore amplo, operculo rostrato urna longiore praedita cxannulata (C. Mueller), the theca turbinate, with a large mouth, provided with an operculum rostrate [i.e. beaked] longer than the urn, lacking an annulus.

- [moss] theca exannulata minutissmima globoso-ovalis operculo minimo convexo (C. Muell.), theca lacking an annulus, very small, globose-oval with a tiny convex operculum.

- [Elytropus] stigma crassum, ovoideum, sub-5-costatum, exannulatum, (B&H), stigma thick, ovoid, almost 5-costate [i.e. 5-ribbed] lacking an annulus.

- [Stapletonia] corolla plana, fauce exannulata (B&H), corolla flat, lacking a ring at the throat.

Drepanocladus exannulatus, a species of moss which has a capsule without an annulus.
