A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
ex. gr.: exempli gratia, ‘for the sake of example,’ for instance, for example; the same as ‘e.g.;’ see gratia,-ae (s.f.I);

- surculi pinnati iterum sunt vel simpliciter pinnati ex: gr: in Hypno filicino; vel bipinnati seu duplicato pinnati ut in Hypno prolifero (Bridel), the shoots are twice pinnate or, simply pinnate, for example in Hypnum filicinum, or bipinnate or doubly pinnate as in Hypnum proliferum.

- Patria: in locis turfosis, humidis, denudatis totius fere Europae ex. gr. prope Bipontem in palatinatu (Schimper), (Jaeg.Sauerb.), native land: in peaty, damp, exposed places of almost the whole of Europe for example near Bipontis [Zweibrücken, in Bavaria] in the Palatinate.

- Patria. Insula Bourbonis, in crateribus montium ignivomorum, ex. gr. in Ramonde (C. Mueller), native land. The island of Bourbon, in the craters of volcanic mountains, for example in [Ramonde].
