A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

etsi (conj.): although, even though; and yet, even if; see although;

- species forte Alchorneae affinior, etsi stylo distinctissima, the species perhaps is more related to Alchornea, although very distinct in the style.

- gynoecium dimerum occurrit, etsi rarius, etiam in Stylophoris Americanis (B&H), a two-parted gynoecium occurs, even if more rarely, also in American Stylophora.

- subgenera sequentia pro generibus (etsi quoad limites acre disputatis) multis auctoribus habentur (B&H), the following subgenera are taken by many authors for genera (although as to limits, vehemently disputed).

- Ordo in Subordines 5, ínter se magnopere affines, facile divisus est, quorum quartus et quintus, etsi multis auctoribus pro Ordinibus habiti, a secundo et primo nullis characteribus validis distinguendi sunt (B&H), an order easily divided into 5 suborders, [that are] very much related among themselves, a quarter and a fifth of which, even if by many authors they have been taken for Orders, are distinguished by no valid characters from the second and the first.

- DICRANOSTIGMA a Stylophoro non differt nisi gynoecio dimero nec 3—1-mero (B&H), Dicranostigma does not differ from Stylophorum except by the dimerous gynoecium not 3-1-merous.

- gynoecium dimerum occurrit, etsi rarius, etiam in Slylophoris Americanis(B&H), a two-parted gynoecium occurs, although more rare, also in the American Stylophorum [sc. species].

- hi characteres tamen plus minus obvii sunt in plurimis aliis speciebus sectionis Hibbertiae, etsi non omnes in eadem stirpe (B&H), yet these characters are more or less encountered in very many other species of the section Hibbertia, although not all on the same stock [i.e. lineage].

- (moss) musci acrocarpici illi appellandi sunt, in quibus axis primariae vita fructu definitur, etsi nonnunquam innovatione nova lateraliter ponitur (Cladocarpi), (Mueller), these are to be called acrocarpous mosses, in which the lifetime of the primary axis is defined by the fruit, even if sometimes laterally situated by a new innovation.

- (moss) calyptram, ab auctoribus consociatis Hooker et Greville calymperoideam basi thecam amplectentem et lateraliter fissam deliniatam, etsi nobis haud visam, Syrrhopodontis dimidiatam habemus (Mueller), the calymperoid calyptra illustrated by the [co-]authors Hooker and Greville, enfolding the theca and laterally split, I am considering the dimidiate [calyptra] of Syrrhopodon, even if not seen by us [i.e. by me].

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
