erem-, eremo-; -eremus,-i (s.m.II): in Gk. comp. isolated; desert- [> Gk. erEmos (s.f.II), 'a solitude, desert, wilderness'; note the feminine gender; the second 'e' is an eta with a circumflex; Gk. erEmos,-E,-on (adj.) “desolate, lonely, solitary” (Liddell & Scott)];

- Bieremus,-i (s.m.II? from bi, twice + eremus, a hermit = L. “a two-celled fruit, the cells so far apart as to seem separate, as in Cerinthe” (Jackson).

- eremicola,-ae (s.c.I), dweller in the desert.

- eremophilus,-a,-um (adj.A), desert-loving.

- Eremoblast: “cells which, united at first, afterwards separate themselves” (Jackson): eremoblastus,-i (s.m.II) [> Gk. erEmos, solitary + blastos, a shoot].

Eremaea,-ae (s.f.I): from Gk. erEmos, lonely, solitary; the flowers are borne singly at the ends of shoots. Myrtaceae (Stearn 1996).

Eremaelurus,-i (s.m.II), desert cat (erem- desert + aelurus, cat) (=Felis margarita).

Eremanthus,-i (s.m.II): > Gk. erEmos, longely, solitary +anthos, flower; “each head has only one flower. Compositae (Stearn 1996).

Eremia,-ae (s.f.I) from Gk. erEmos, lonely, solitary; “there is nut one seed in each chamber of the fruit. Ericaceae” (Stearn 1996).

Eremochloe,-es (s.f.I), a grass.

Eremocitrus (s.f.I) from Gk. erEmia, desert + citrus. Rutaceae; Australian desert kumquat (Uphof), “Desert Lime” (Stearn 1996).

Eremodon,-ontis (s.m.III), with (peristome) teeth that are single, simple (i.e. not double, the teeth not fused in pairs].

Eremonotus,-i (s.m.II) > Gk. eremos, ‘isolated, deserted + notos, dampness, in reference to the habitat of this monotypic genus;

Eremophila (s.f.I) from Gk. erEmia, desert + philos, friend; i.e. desert-lover; “Robert Brown collected the two original species in a sandy desert. Myoporaceae” (Stearn 1996); also Verbenaceae (Paxton).

Eremostachys (s.f.III) from Gk. erEmia, desert + Stachys, woundwort (Labiatae. (Stearn 1996).

Eremurus,-i (s.m.II) from Gk. erEmia, desert + oura, a tail; “from the appearance of the flower spike of these giant desert- and steppe-inhabiting plants. Liliaceae” (Stearn 1996).
