A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
denudans,-antis (part.B): making or laying bare, stripping, denuding; becoming exposed, bare, uncovered, stripped [> L. denudo,-avi,-atum 1. to lay bare, uncover; to rob, plunder, to lay bare what had been secret; to disclose, reveal, detect, betray, expose; to strip, plunder (Lewis & Short)];

- Capsula dehiscens, valvis tot quot styii, coriaceis, placentas liberas v. rarius in axi connatas denudantibus (B&H), capsule dehiscent, with the valves as many as that of the styles, leathery, the placentas free, or rarely connate on the axis, falling away.

- spiculae ovoideae, erectae; glumae inferiores plures praesertim in 5 saepe numerosae vacuae, florentes tamen in utroque sexu plures, saepe deciduae florem denudantes (B&H), spikelets ovoid, erect; lower glumes many, primarily in 5’s, often numerous, empty, the flowering ones however [more in numbers] in each sex [i.e. in both sexes], often deciduous, exposing the flower.
