cylindricus,-a,-um (adj.A), cylindraceus,-a,-um (adj.A), cylindratus,-a,-um (adj.A); cylindric, cylindrical:cf. fistular or fistulose: [as cylindraceous:] “somewhat cylindric” (Jackson); [as cylindric, cylindrical] “elongated with a circular cross-section” (Jackson); “hollow and cylindrical” (Fernald 1950); “long and round, cylindrical” (Stearn 1996);“elongate and circular in transverse-section” (Magill 1990) [> Gk. kylindros: fistularis,-e (adj.B); cf. fistular or fistulose; cf. teres,-etis (adj.B), circular in transverse section, rounded, tapering or narrowly cylindric; see tubulosus,-a,-um (adj.A);

cylindratus,-a,-um (adj.A): “shaped like a cylinder, cylindrical” (Glare).

- corolla exterior brevi-cylindrata, outer corolla short-cylindric.

- theca ovoidea haud cylindrica differre videtur (C. Mueller), it appears to differ by the theca egg-shaped, hardly cylindric.

- [moss] folia nervo tereti crasso instructa (C. Mueller), leaves provided with a rounded-cylindric thick nerve [i.e. costa].

- pileipellis cutem e hyphis cylindricis compositam formans, pileipellis forming a cutis composed of cylindric hyphae.

campanulate-cucullate: referring to a calyptra that is elongated and cylindrical; cylindrical and split along one side only, e.g. the calyptra of Dicnemon calycinum (Magill 1990): campanulato-cucullatus,-a,-um (adj.A).

fistulosus,-a,-um (adj.A): fistulose, fistular, fistulous, “this is said of a cylindrical or terete body which is hollow, but closed at each end, as the leaves and stems of the Onion” (Lindley); i.e. hollow throughout, like a pipe, but closed at ends.

teres,-etis (adj.B), abl.sg. tereti: terete, i.e. circular in transverse section, rounded and cylindric.

tubularis,-e (adj.B), tubulosus,-a,-um (adj.A), tubulatus,-a,-um (adj.A), “approaching a cylindrical figure, and hollow” (Lindley); tubular, with the shape of a tube; (fungi) “cylindric and hollow” (S&D).

tubulatus,-a,-um (adj.A), q.v., “approaching a cylindrical figure, and hollow” (Lindley).

veruculatus,-a,-um (adj.A) [> L. vericulum,-i (s.n.II), a small javelin]: cylindric and somewhat pointed (Jackson).

somewhat cylindrical: teretiusculus,-a,-um (adj.A).

smoothly cylindrical: julaceus,-a,-um (adj.A).

cylindrical with bulges or contractions at intervals, knotted, with knots or nodes: torosus,-a,-um (adj.A), torulosus,-a,-um (adj.A); cf. moniliformis.
