A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
cupuliformis,-e (adj.B), often cupulaeformis,-e (adj.B): cupuliform, cup-shaped, or domed and like a cupula, cupulate, shaped like a cupula,-ae (s.f.I), q.v.; cupule-shaped, “slightly concave, with a nearly entire margin; as the calyx of Citrus, or the cup of an acorn” (Lindley); see cupola-shaped;

- gynecium toro cupuliformi carnoso inclusum v. immersum in Eupomatia (B&H), the gynoecium inclosed in the fleshy cup-shaped torus or immersed in Eupomatia.

- carpella toro cupulaeformi immersa (B&H), the carpels immersed in the cup-shaped torus.

- stamina potius ima basi brevissime connata quam disco cupuliformi inserta dicenda (B&H), the stamens should rather be said to be very shortly fused at the very lowest base than to be inserted on a cup-shaped disc.

- calyx obsolete 3-fidus, involucro cupuliformi spathaceo cinctus (B&H), the calyx scarcely 3-fid, surrounded by a cup-shaped, spathe-like involucre.

- semen arillo cupulaeformi denticulato cinctum (B&H), the seed birdled by a cupuliform, denticulate aril.

- discus cupuliformis, brevis, truncatus (B&H), the disc cup-shaped, short, truncate.

- calyx minutus, cupuliformis, 5-dentatus, imbricatus (B&H), the calyx minute, cup-shaped, 5-dentate, imbricate.

- ovarium disco cupuliformi cinctum (B&H), the ovary girdled [i.e. surrounded] by a cup-shaped disc.

- discus cupuliformis circa ovarii stipitem observatur in Machaerio, Drepanocarpo, et in speciebus perpaucis Lonchocarpi (B&H), the disc is observed [to be] cup-shaped around the stalk of the ovary in Machaerium, Drepanocarpus, and in a very few species of Lonchocarpus.
