A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
cornifer,-fera,-ferum (adj.A); corniger, q.v., cornigera, cornigerum (adj.A): corniferous, cornigerous, bearing a horn or horns, horned [> L. cornu, horn + -fer, bearing, carrying];

- corniferi cervi, horn-bearing deer.

- stigmatis lobis erectis conniventibus, saepe extus incrassatis v. cornigeris (B&H), with the stigmas with lobes erect, connivent [i.e. converging], often on the outside thickened or bearing a horn [i.e. horn-like appendage].

- lobis dorso cornigeris (B&H), with the lobes bearing a horn [-like appendage] on the back.

- [MATTHIOLA] siliqua elongata, polysperma; stigmatibus saepe dorso incrassatis v. cornigeris (B&H), the silique elongate, with many seeds; with the stigmas often thickened on the back and bearing horn(s).

- siliquae spicatae, basi rachidi appressae, apice arcuato-deflexae, cornigerae (B&H), the silique spicate, appressed at the base to the rachis, at the apex arcuate-deflexed, bearing horns.
