A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
copiose (adv.), compar. copiosius (adv.), superl. copiosissime (adv.): copiously, fully, plentifully, richly, abundantly, q.v.; in plenty, amply [cf. L. copia,-ae (s.f.I), abundance]; opp. parce (adv.), parciter (adv.): sparingly, slightly, moderately;

- Sphagnum copiose fructiferum, a Sphagnum abundantly fruiting.

- [lichen] sporae sphaericae copiose accumulatae capitulum apotheciorum globoso-pulverulentum efficientes (Agardh), spores spherical, when abundantly heaped up, producing the globose- powdery capitulum of the apothecia.

- folia copiose acuteque dentata, the leaves copiously and sharply dentate.

- fungus terrestris et corticalis copose obvenit in sylvis acerosis, a fungus terrestrial and cortical often encountered in maple forests.

- crescit in ramis salicinis copiose (S&A), it grows abundantly on willow branches.

- in ramulis siccis Ulmi campestris, copiosius Ribis rubri (S&A), on the dry branchlets of Ulmus campestris, more abundantly [those of] Ribes nigrum.

- [moss] in arena secus rivulum sub Salice Lapponum copiosissime legit W. P. Schimper (C. Mueller), W. P. Schimper collected it most plentifully in sand along a brooklet under Salix Lapponum.

- [Guajacum] resina ex trunco vulnerato copiose defluit, indurata legitur ab incolis (Swartz), the resin pours down abundantly from the trunk when wounded, when it is hardened, it is collected by the natives.

- [diatom] ad saxa prope Tergestum copiosissime legi (agardh), I collected it most abundantly on stones near Tergestum.

- in paludosis turfosis planitierum copiosissime, usque ad alpes totius Europae (C. Muell.), most abundantly in swampy, peaty [places] from the plains to the high mountains of all Europe.
