convolutaceus,-a,-um (adj.A): appearing as if convolute (rolled up), convolute in appearance, loosely, as opp. to tightly, convolute [> L. convoluta,-ae (s.f.I), a twist, a rolling up; also convolutus,-a,-um (part.A), rolled or wound together one part upon another: coiled];

- [moss] folia perichaetialia convolutacea elongate et laxius areolata, longius capillaria et acutius serrata (C. Muell.) perichaetial leaves appearing convolute, elongate and more loosely areolate, more long-hair-like and more acutely serrate.

- [moss] folia perichaetialia plerumque non exserta, in aliis speciminibus,si fructus exacte tcrminalis observatur, distincte exserta convolutacea inveniuntur (C. Muell.), perichaetial leaves usually not exserted, in some specimens, if the fruit is seen precisely terminal, they are found distinctly exserted, appearing convolute.

NOTE: to compare Mueller’s use of ‘involutus’ and ‘convolutus:’

-[moss] folia perichactialia cylindrico-convoluta longe vaginantia (C. Muell.), perichaetial leaves cylindric-convolute, long-sheathing.

- [moss] margine arcte involuta integerrima (C. Muell.), with the margin tightly involute, completely entire.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
