A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
conspersus,-a,-um (part.A): sprinkled, strewn, covered; scattered [> L. conspergo [or conspargo], conspersi, conspersum, 3: to sprinkle, besprinkle, bespatter, strew; to strew, to cover; to scatter, sprinkle (Lewis & Short)];

- folia maculis plusminusve confluentibus conspersa, leaves with spots more or less confluent sprinkled (Stearn). - folia, saltem in pagina superiore, punctis resinosis conspersa (B&H), the leaves, at least on the upper side, sprinkled with resinous dots.

- herbae erectae, pilis adpressis medifixis conspersae v. incanae (B&H), erect herbs, sprinkled with appressed hairs attached at the middle, or gray.

- P. stipitatum, peridio pileiformi subtus nigro, supra farina villosa cinerea dense consperso (S&A), P. stipitatum, with a pileiform peridium below dull black, above densely strewn with a villous, gray [powder].

- partes foliáceae saepe glandulis pellucidis punctatae, v. punctis vesiculosis nigris conspersae (B&H), the foliaceous parts often dotted with pellucid glandules or scattered with black vesiculose dots.

- [fungi] Totum denique librum annotatiunculis qualibuscunque e naturae vivae observatione oriundis atque ad uberiorem fungorum notitiam pertinentibus conspergere sategimus (S&A), finaly we have contented ourselves to sprinkle the entire book with brief remarks, and whatsoever things proceed from the observation of live [i.e. actual] nature and also whatever things pertain to a richer knowledge of the fungi.

- superna facies subcinericea, ad albidum nonnihil vergens, viscido tactu, fungosis verrucis eminentibus conspersa (Ray), the upper surface varying from little like ashes to somewhat whitish, with a viscid feel [i.e. to the touch], sprinkled with projecting, spongy warts [i.e. swellings].

- valvis membranaceis v. tenuiter subcoriaceis, saepius glandulis v. setis brevibus plumosis conspersis (B&H), with the valves membranaceous or thinly somewhat leathery, rather often sprinkled with glandules or feathery with short setae.
