A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
-comus,-a,-um (adj.A): used in both L. and Gk. compounds: -haired; -comaed; -tufted; -foliaged;

1. L. albicomus, with white tuft; apicicomus, with a tuft at the apex; atricomus, with a (dull) black coma, tuft; auricomus,-a,-um, golden-haired, golden-leaved (as in tree crowns); basicomus, with tufts or pappus at the base; curticomus, with a short tuft; flavicomus, with yellow tufts (pappus); mollicomus, with a soft tuft (pappus); ruficomus, with red or reddish tufts;

Gerbera ruficoma; Hieracium albicomum; Papobolus mollicomus

2. Gk. acanthocomus, with a tuft of spines; acomus, lacking a coma, pappus, tuft; achyrocomus, with a chaffy or bran-like coma or tuft; amphicomus, with a tuft of two kinds, or on both sides or around; argyrocomus, with silvery hair, coma, tuft, e.g. pappus; brachycomus, with a short coma, i.e. with short pappus bristles; chrysocomus, with golden foliage, hair-tufts, hairs (pappus); dasycomus, with a shaggy coma, hairs, tuft, pappus; dolichocomus, with long hairs (e.g. pappus); eucomus, with well-developed coma, tufts (i.e. pappus); heterocomus, with two or variable coma, tuft; lamprocomus, with lustrous tufts (i.e. pappus); leucocomus, with a white tuft; melanocomus, with a black tuft; phyllocomus, with a leafy coma, foliage, tuft; piptocomus, with caducus pappus, tuft, coma; podocomus, with a stalked, footed tuft; pyrrhocomus, with fire-red coma, tuft (pappus).
