citrinus,-a,-um (adj.A): lemon yellow (H.C.C.4); also citrellus,-a,-um (adj.A), citreus,-a,-um (adj.A), citrinus,-a,-um (adj.A), limoneus,-a,-um (adj.A); “lemon colored. The purest yellow, without any brightness; as in a Lemon when ripe” (Lindley);

NOTE: Gk. kitrinos,-E,-on (adj.), “of the citron-tree; of a citron yellow; kitrinon (s.n.II), a yellowish salve” (Liddell & Scott).

- differt a praecedente persimili foliis angustioribus, capsula pulchre citrina tenuiore multo latius striata (Austin) it differs from the preceding very similar [sc. species] by the leaves more narrow, byt he capsule beautifully citrine [i.e. lemon-yellow], thinner much more widely striate.

Amanita citrina, a mushroom whose cap is greenish yellow; Truncocolumella citrina, a mushroom with the outer skin of the pileus a dull greenish yellow; Penicillium citrinum; Zingiber citrinum Ridl.; Orthotrichum citrinum, a moss, for the color of the capsules

viridi-citrinus,-a,-um (adj.A): citron green (H.C.C.1.63).
