- Scorodoprasum campestre, Juncifolium, nucleis capitulorum Сiceris magnitudine (Mich.), scordoprasm growing in fields, with rush-like leaves, with the nutlets [i.e. achenes] of the heads with the size of a Chick-pea.

Cicer arietinum L., the Chick-pea, 'similar to a ram's head, from fancied resemblance of the seed' (Fernald, 1950).

Cicera,-ae (s.f.I): “pulse similar to the chickpea; chickling-vetch, Lathyrus cicera, Linn.” (Lewis & Short).
