A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
cicatricatus,-a,-um (adj.A), cicatricosus,-a,-um (adj.A): cicatrized, scarred, “marked with scars” (Lindley) [> L cicatrix,-icis (s.f.III), q.v., scar];

- caudex annulatus vel raro cicatricatus, trunk marked with rings or rarely scarred (with scars); see cicatrisatus,-a,-um (adj.A).

- [Tamarindus] Arbor alta, trunco laevi, ramis patentibus, ramulis cicatricatis, ex foliis déciduis anni praecedentis (Swartz), a tall tree, with a trunk smooth, with spreading branches, with the branchlets provided with scars, from the leaves of the preceding year being deciduous.

- [Macrocnemum] Arbuscula, caule ramoso, laevi. Rami longi, laxi, teretes, cicatricati (Swartz), a small tree, with a branched stem, smooth. The branches long, lax [i.e. in a loose arrangement], terete [i.e. cylindric and round], covered with scars.

- caulis laevis, ramosus; ramis subdivisis teretibus, cicatricatis, scabrosis (Swartz), stem smooth, branched; with the branches subdivided, terete, scabrous [i.e. rough] with scars.

- [Capparis] truncus erectus, glaber. Rami flexuoso, cicatricati, e foliis deciduis (Swartz), the trunk ereck, glabrous. The branches flexuous, provided with scars from the leaves being deciduous.
