A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
carpineus,-a,-um (adj.A): pertaining to the hornbeam (Carpinus);

- [fungus] utraque var. in ligno arido carpineo vulgaris (S&A), either [of the two] varieties common on dried hornbeam wood [of Carpinus].

- [fungus] inventa a, aliquoties in truncis quercinis (Jankendorf) et carpineis (Gemeingarten) (S&A), [variety] a several times encountered on oaken trunks ( at Jankendorf) and hornbeam (at Gemaingarten).

- [fungus] semel quoque in caudice excelso semimortuo carpineo (Diehse) inventus fuit (S&A), once also found on a half dead lofty carpinus trunk (at Diehse).

- [fungus] Var. bb. unica vice in trunco carpineo caeso vetusto (Buchenwaldchen) reperta (S&A), the variety bb. discovered one time on a fallen carpinus trunk (at Buchenwaldchen).

- [fungus] subcorticalis praesertim, sub cortice semiputri abietino etc. repens offenditur, attamen et in ligno nudo betulino, carpineo (S&A), primarily subcortical, it was found creeping under half rotten fir bark, etc., and yet also on naked beech, hornbeam wood.
