caligans,-antis (part.B): steaming, emitting vapor; to be dark, gloomy, to be surrounded by darkness (> L. caligo,-avi,-atum 1. to emit vapor or steam, to steam, reek; to grow dark, as before a storm, obscured as if surrounded by a mist]; cf. vaporans,-antis (part.B): emitting steam or vapor, steaming, fuming, reeking;

- amnes aestate vaporatis, hieme frigidis nebulis caligent, the rivers are vaporous, in summer with steaming, in winter with frigid clouds.

NOTE: cf. clouded, “when colors are unequally blended together” (Lindley).
