A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

caelestis,-e (adj.B), also coelestis,-e (adj.B): heavenly blue, sky-blue; heavenly, celestial; anything splendid or excellent, celestial, divine, god-like, magnificent (applied to persons) [> L. caelestis,-e (adj.B), “pertaining to heaven or to the heavens, found in heaven, coming from heaven, etc., heavenly, celestial (Lewis & Short); heavernly, divine]; opp. terrenus,-a,-um (adj.A), earthy, earthen, consisting of earth; terrestrial, belonging to the land or earth; cf. divinus,-a,-um (adj.A);

- arcus caelestis, the rainbow.

- aqua caelestis, rain.

Caelestia,-ium (pl.n.III): the heavenly bodies; divine things, heavenly objects.

Caelestis,-is (sg. m/f III): a deity.

Caelestes,-ium (pl. m/f III): the Gods.
