A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
butyraceus,-a,-um (adj.A), butyrosus,-a,-um (adj.A), butyrus,-a,-um (adj.A): butyraceous, butyrosus; buttery, butter-like; full of butter; “having the qualities of butter; resembling butter; also yielding or containing a substance like butter” (WIII);

(in fungi) “having the appearance or consistency of butter; (of mycelial cultures), sodden, not shiny, like cultures of yeasts” (S&D) [> butyrum,-i (s.n.II), q.v., butter].

- ad discos ligneos mucidos semiputres butyrosos, cellaris, rarior (S&A), on moldy wooden dishes, half rotten, full of butter, of the cellar, more rare.

[fungi] Collybia (Rhodocollybia) butyracea Fr., Buttery Collybia, perhaps referring to its lubricious cap (pileus) when fresh.

Butter-fungus] Boletus luteus or Collybia butyracea (S&D).
