A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Branchlet, smaller division of a much branched plant; “ultimate division of a branch” (Fernald 1950): ramulus,-i (s.m.II), abl. sing. ramulo, nom. pl. ramuli, acc. pl. ramulos, dat. & abl. pl. ramulis; see ramulus,-i (s.m.II); see twig;

- ramuli primarii duplo vel triplo furcati, radiis primariis totam longitudinem ramulorum 1/2-3/5 aequantibus, primary branchlets 2 or 3 times furcate with primary rays the total length of the branchlets 1/2 - 3/5 equalling; cf. whorl. (Stearn); see virga.

- ramulis secundariis pubescentibus, with secondary branchlets pubescent.

- frutex, ramis crebre verticillatis; ramulis sarmentaceis (B&H), a shrub, with branches closely verticillate, with the branchlets full of small branches.

- arbuscula graveolens, ligno flavo, ramulis puberulis (B&H), a strong-smelling small tree, with yellow wood, with the branchlets downy.

- stylus crassissimus ab auctore pro ovarii parte describitur, et ramuli ejus breves pro stylis distinctis (B&H), the style very thick, by the author in part described for the ovary, and the short branchlets of it for separate [distinct] styles.

- ramulis praesentibus flagellatis faciliter disjunctis foliis triangularibus praeditis, with the flagellate branchlets present, easily detached, provided with triangular leaves
branchlet (adj.), pertaining to or belonging to branchlets: ramulinus,-a,-um (adj.A), q.v.;

- branch leaf, folium (s.n.II) ramulinum.

- ad initium ramulinum, at the onset of branching.
