A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
brackish, “somewhat salt: less salt than sea water but undrinkable” (WIII): subsalinus,-a,-um (adj.A), salsugineus,-a,-um (adj.A), salsuginosus,-a,-um (adj.A), growing in brackish places, i.e. within the reach of salt water; subsalsus,-a,-um (adj.A); see saline;

- hab. in fossis subsalsis salinarum, it grows in the brackish ditches of salt works.

- in [sc. locis] Hungariae subsalsis (DeCandolle), in brackish places of Hungary.

- in planitiebus subsalinis ad sinus St. Vincent's Gulf (F. Mueller), in the nearly salty plains [i.e. salt plains] of the gulf of St. Vincent.

- in paludibus subsalinis ad South Port Tasmaniae (F. Mueller), in the brackish wetlands at South Port of Tasmania.

Brackish water: aqua,-ae (s.f.I) subsalsa; aqua subsalina (adj.A)

Plain by the sea, a 'salt plain:' halipedum,-i (s.n.II), abl. sg. halipedo; see grassland.

Salt water (sea water): aqua,-ae (s.f.I) marina (adj.A); opposed to fresh water, aqua dulcis (adj.B).
Brackish water: aqua,-ae (s.f.I) subsalsa (adj.A).
