A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
bipinnatus,-a,-um (adj.A), 2-pinnatus,-a,-um (adj.A): doubly or twice pinnate; each division of a pinnate leaf being itself pinnate;

- Arbores, foliis bipinnatis, trees, with leaves twice pinnate.

- herba annua, ramosa, foliis bipinnatipartitis (B&H), an annual, branched herb, with the leaves twice-pinnately parted.

- folia pinnati- v. bipinnatisecta (B&H), the leaves pinnately- or bipinnately divided [to the base].

- folia omnia v. nonnulla bipinnata (B&H), the leaves all or some bipinnate.

- folia bipinnata, rarissime imparipinnata (B&H), leaves twice-pinnate, very rarely odd-pinnate.

- folia pinnata v. bipinnata foliolis pinnisve 1-oo-jugis, rarius Simplicia v. 1-foliolata (B&H), the leaves pinnate or twice-pinnate with the leaflets or pinnae [in] 1-[indeterminate]-pairs, more rarely simple or 1-foliolate.

- folia omnia bipinnata v. rarius pleraque simpliciter pinnata, nonnullis hinc inde bipinnatis. (B&H), all the leaves twice pinnate or more rarely many simple- [i.e. once-] pinnate, some here and there bipinnate.

binato-pinnatus,-a,-um (adj.A): “(obsol.) “when the primary and secondary divisions of a leaf are pinnated” (Lindley) = bipinnatisectus,-a,-um (part.A), bipinnatus,-a,-um (adj.A).

NOTE: a leaf that is pinnate is a compound leaf.
