A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
barbellatus,-a,-um (adj.A): finely barbed (Fernald 1950); with short, stiff hairs as in pappus of some Compositae;

- pétala 5, coriacea, intus medio barbellata, valvata,[Rutaceae] (B&H), petals 5, coriaceous, at the middle, inside, barbellate.

- stylus incurvus, glaber, stigmate terminali saepius barbellato.[Leguminosae] (B&H), the style incurved, glabrous, with the terminal stigma rather often barbellate.

- (antheris barbellatis) [Leguminosae] (B&H), with the anthers barbellate.

- stylus incurvus, apice plus minus dilatatus, circa stigma terminale barbellatus .[Leguminosae] (B&H), the style incurves, at the apex more or less dilated, barbellate around the terminal stigma.

- calycis limbi dentés 10-20, in setas rigidas plumoso-ciliatas v. barbellatas producti .[Leguminosae] (B&H), the teeth of the limb of the calyx 10-20, extended into rigid plumose-ciliate or barbellate bristles.

- Pappi setae oo, barbellato-subplumosae [Compositae] (B&H), the bristles of the pappus indeterminate, barbellate-subplumose.

- calycis limbus 5-dentatus, dentibus in setas nudas barbellatasve productis v. rarius muticis.[Dipsacaeae] (B&H), the limb of the calyx 5-dentate, with the teeth extended into naked or barbellate bristles or rather rarely [the teeth] muticous.
