arenosus,-a,-um (adj.A) full of sand, sandy; cf. lutosus,-a,-um (adj.A), lutose, muddy; cf. sabulosus,-a,-um (adj.A), full of gravel, sandy, full of sand; “growing in sandy places” (Lindley); syn. = sabulinus,-a,-um (adj.A), “dwelling on (coarse) sand.”

Arenosum,-i (s.n.II), abl.sg. arenoso: a sandy place.

- solum,-i (s.n.II) arenosum (adj.A), sandy soil.

- in locis arenosis, in sandy places (often the word 'locis' is understood and not written out).

- habitat in campis arenosis prope Mascar (Desf.), it grows in the sandy plains near Mascar.

- ad oras arenosas insulae Moreton Island (F. Muell.), on the sandy shores of Moreton Island.

- habitat in arenosis humidis Raccoon montium Alabamae, it grows in sandy, humid (places) of the Raccoon mountains of Alabama (U.S.A.).

- Surculi pristini sub terra latitant, ita ut gracillimis albidisque filamentis inter se connectantur. Ex his surculis primordialia prorumpunt plumulosa, arenosum solum facile penetrantia, quibus ad ultimum germinationis gradum pervenientibus, in caespitosam plantam convertuntur (Necker; moss), the primitive [i.e. early stage, earliest] shoots lie hidden under the soil, just so they may be connected together [i.e. between themselves] by extremely slender and whitish filaments. The primordial, bud-rich [Phasca] break forth from these shoots, easily penetrating the sandy soil, by which, attaining the final stage of germination, they are united into a cespitose plant.

arenoso-argillaceus,-a,-um (adj.A): sand mixed with clay;

- incolit arida fruticeta, praecipue maritima, Indiae occidentalis, arenoso- argillacea (Swartz), it inhabits dry shrub-lands, expecially maritime, of western India, in clay-sandy places.

- incolit littora arenosa Indiae occidentalis (Swartz), it dwells on the sandy coasts of the West Indies.

- incolit sterilia arenosa saxosa, ad ripas fluviorum Jamaicae australis (Swartz), it dwells in sterile, sandy, stony [soils], on the banks of the rivers of southern Jamaica.

- incolit sterilia arenosa saxosa, ad ripas fluviorum Jamaicae australis (Swartz)

- incolit littora arenosa salsa aprica Indiae occidentalis (Swartz), it inhabits the sandy, salty open shores of the West Indies.

lutoso-arenosus,-a,-um (adj.A) = lutoso-arenarius,-a,-um (adj.A): muddy sand; sand mixed with clay or mud; see lutosus,-a,-um (adj.A);

- in terra lutoso-arenaria (C. Muell), on muddy, sandy earth.

- [moss] in pratis humidis et uliginosis, ad rivulorum margines, praecipue in solo lutoso-arenoso Europae occidentalis et borealis (C. Muell.), in moist and swampy meadows, on the margins [i.e. banks] of streams, especially in muddy-sandy soil of western Europe.

subarenosus,-a,-um (adj.A): somewhat or slightly sandy;

- ad flumen Victoriae in campis subarenosis (F. Muell.), on the river of Victoria in somewhat sandy fields.
