Arcesthida,-ae (s.f.I), Arcesthide,-ae (s.f.I): “(obsol.) a cone or strobilus, whose scales are fleshy, and become united; the same as galbulus,-a,-um (adj.A)” (Lindley); “= galbulus,-i (s.m.II), q.v.” (Jackson) [> Gk. arkeuthis,-idos, a juniper berry > arkeuthos (s.f.II), juniper, Juniperus macrocarpa’ also Phoenician cedar, Juniperus phoenicea; prickly sedar, Juniperus oxycedrus; also the dwarf (micra) juniper, Juniperus communis (Liddell & Scott); see juniper.
