A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
aquatic, living, growing or found in or by the water, aquatic; full of water, watery, moist, humid.: aquaticus,-a,-um (adj.A), aquatilis,-e (adj.B), hydrophilus,-a,-um (adj.A); hydrophyticus,-a,-um (adj.A), a plant of moist or aquatic places; opp. terrestris,-e (adj.B), q.v.;

- habitu aquatico, with aquatic habit.

- herbae aquaticae vel terrestres, rhizomate submèrso, foliis saepissime peltatis (B&H), herbs aquatic or terrestrial, with the rhizome submersed, with the leaves very frequently peltate.

- herba aquatica foliis petiolo longo super aquam natantibus, rarius emersis (B&H), an aquatic herb aquatic with the leaves floating with the petiole far above the water, more rarely emersed.

- herba aquatica v. uliginosa (B&H), herb aquatic or of wet soil.

- Herba succulenta, aquatica, natans, glabra, diaphana (B&H), herb succulent, aquatic, floating, glabrous, colorless.

- herbae aquaticae v. paludosae, glabrae, ramis saepissime natantibus foliosis (B&H), herbs aquatic or of swamps, glabrous, with the branches most often floating, leafy.

Eryngium aquaticum, button-snakeroot; Mentha aquatica, water-mint; Myosoton aquaticum (L.) Moench, a species of shores, alluvial thickets and wet meadows.

Alisma plantago-aquatica: Water Plantain.

Aquatic plant: hydrophyton,-i (s.n.II), q.v., abl. sg. hydrophyto. .
