A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
antlered, with complex branching like a deer's antler: rangiferinus,-a,-um (adj.A); rangiferoideus,-a,-um (adj.A); see deer, reindeer; see cornu,-us (s.n.IV), horn; moose and fallow deer have palmate antlers vs. digitate; palmate indicates branched antlers, and digitate unbranched antlers; cf. coralliformis,-e (adj.B): (fungi) “much branched; like coral in form” (Ainsworth & Bisby); antleroideus,-a,-um (adj.A) [> cervus,-i (s.m.II), q.v., abl. sg. cervo, deer, stag];

- cervicornis,-e (adj.B), cervicornutus,-a,-um (adj.A), with the horn(s) of a deer.

- antleroides, resembling antlers;

Coriolopsis antleroides [a pore fungus] is characterised by antler-like, digitate to coralloid erect protuberances on the pileus surface [from the protologue]; ‘antleroides’ = resembling antlers.

coralliformis,-e (adj.B), q.v., coralloideus,-a,-um (adj.A): (fungi) “much branched; like coral in form” (Ainsworth & Bisby); rangiferinus,-a,-um (adj.A), rangiferoideus,-a,-um (adj.A): with complex branching like a reindeer's horn (antler).

rangiferinus,-a,-um (adj.A), rangiferoideus,-a,-um (adj.A): with complex branching like a reindeer's horn (antlers).

Cladonia rangiferina, Reindeer Moss, a fruticose lichen with a much-branched, antleroid thallus.

cf. Rubus plexus Fern. 'entangled,' from the intricately branching and forking canes.

cornifrons,-ontis (adj.B): with horns on the forehead (Lewis & Short) [> L. cornu, horn + frons, gen.sg. frontis (s.f.III), face, forehead]; see antlered.
