A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
annularis,-e (adj.B), also anularis,-e (adj.B): annular, ring-shaped, arranged in a circle; (of a solid shape) doughnut-shaped; “having the form of a ring, as in certain embryos” (Lindley); (in byology) “ringlike; leaves or branches arranged in a circle; e.g. Rhodobryum, Philonotis” (Magill 1990); (in fungi) “(of the remains of the veil on the stipe) resembling a ring or ‘annulus’” (S&D);

- forma ostioli insigni rotunda depresso-concava ob marginem prominulum annularem congruas omes tres, all three agree in the form of the remarkable rounded ostiole, depressed-concave due to the prominulous ring-shaped margin.

- sphaerulae plicis annularibus concentricis saepe notatae, the sphaerules often marked by ring-shaped concentric folds.

- discus saepius intra stamina annularis v. tubo stamineo adnatus (B&H), the disc more often within the stamens ring-formed or adnate to the stamineal tube.

- discus annularis v. cupularis, liber v. calyci adnatus (B&H), disc annular or cup-shaped, free or adnate to the calyx.

- fructus baccatus perianthii basi annulari marginatus (B&H), fruit berry-like bordered by the ring-shaped base of the perianth.

Annular duct, annular vessel “one in which the secondary thickening has taken place in the form of rings” (Jackson): ductus annularis, abl.sg. ductu annulari (ductus,-us (s.m.IV), ‘duct’); vas annulare, abl.sg. vase annulari (vas, vasis (s.n.III) ‘vessel, duct’).

[fungi] Annularia,-ae (s.f.I) = Chamaeota; Annularius,-i (s.m.II) = Coprinus (Ainsworth & Bisby).
