A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
angustatus,-a,-um (part.A): narrowed [> L. angusto,-avi,-atum 1. to make narrow]; cf. attenuatus,-a,-um (part.A), attenuated, gradually ecoming narrow; opp. rotundatus,-a,-um (part. A), rounded;

- filamenta basin versus angustata, the filaments toward the base narrowed.

- foliis fere lanceolatis e basi rotundata sensim in apicem mucronatum angustatis (F. Mueller), with the leaves almost lanceolate, rounded from the base gradually narrowed into a mucronate apex.

- pétala interiora conniventia, basi vix angustata (B&H), inner petals connivent [i.e. converging], scarcely narrow at the base.

- petala interiora cohaerentia, basi angustata(B&H), the inner petals coherent [i.e. pressed together], narrowed at the base.

- petala basi in unguem latam angustata (B&H), petals at the base narrowed into a broad claw.

Ainsliaea angustata; Antennaria angustata; Bidens angustata; Cirsium angustatum
