A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Acarodomatium,-ii (s.n.II), nom. & acc. pl. acarodomatia: acarodomatium; “formations on plants adapted to shelter Acari when of service to the host” (Jackson); plant morphogenetic structures that serve as refugia for mites; hideaways at the juncture of two veins on the ventral surface of the leaves of certain plants that are often inhabited by predatory or fungivorous mites [> Acarus, “the typical genus of mites” + Gk. dOmation, a little house (Jackson)]; see domatium,-ii (s.n.II); -

- acarodomatia nulla, acarodomatia none.

- venis in pagina folii ventrali acarodomatiis dense papillosis praeditis, with veins on the ventral side of the leaf with densely papillose acarodomatia provided. -

- acarodomatia basilaminaria, cylindrica, e laciniis texturalibus subimbricatis, incurvis, baso-lateralibus e veni medii et venis secondariis producta; acarodomatia on abaxial leaf surface, cylindric, formed by nearly overlapping, incurving, baso–lateral tissue flaps extending out from the midrib and secondary veins. -

- acarodomatiis duobus marsupiformibus in superficie foliari abaxiali e pilis elongatis ad junctionem veni medii et venis magnissimis secondariis, with two marsupiform [i.e. pouch-like] acarodomatia on the leaf abaxial surface formed by elongated hairs at the junction of the midvein and largest secondary veins. -
